No More War - According to The Watchtower
© Lori MacGregor

"If everyone was a Jehovah's Witness; we'd have no more war," the young man said. You know what? He is RIGHT! This is true. We would have no more war. But have you ever thought about what we would have?

If we are honest as we think about this, you would have to agree with the young man, in this present world, ... if everyone was a Jehovah's Witness.

Here is what we would have - THE MOST OPPRESSIVE DICTATORSHIP in the history of man! Think about it

There would still the extreme problems including crime, sickness and disease, mental and emotional problems, financial problems, family dysfunction, and divorce (According to statistics, Jehovah's Witnesses still have these problems and in some cases to a greater degree than the general populace.)

But there would be no doctors, psychologists, policemen, no professional and technical people to help in these problem areas because there would be very few schools, especially schools of higher education.

We would forced to believe whatever we were told. Whether it was true or not, and even if it changed regularly.

If we questioned any decree of the government, (the governing body) we would be killed or banished to a place comparable to Siberia.

We would have absolutely no rights whatsoever as Jehovah's Witnesses have no personal rights. If those in charge say they are guilty of anything, they are guilty. Many are not even given any kind of hearing. None are allowed legal counsel or help in any way. (The Watchtower Society goes to court all over the world to protect and establish their rights, but they deny their followers any rights whatsoever.)

We would be told exactly what type of work we could do, what we could read, (therefore, no bookstores or libraries), who we could talk to or associate with, and who we couldn't.

We would be told how to dress and how to wear our hair. No-one would be allowed to wear a beard. Occasionally, we would even be told what married people could do within their bedrooms (but then, that could be changed).

If anyone saw another person doing anything wrong, even family members, they would be required to turn them in to the authorities!

There would be only conditional love and conditional friendships. If you questioned anything the authorities said or did, no-one, not even your relatives, could love you or be your friend anymore. In fact, they would be required to HATE you. (See Watchtowers, June 15, 1980, page 8; July 15, 1961, page 420; Oct. 15, 1952, page 599)

There would be no competitive sporting events of any type. No football, baseball, basketball, etc. (I agree - we could do without hockey).

We would not be allowed any INDEPENDENT THINKING! (Jan. 15, 1983 Watchtower page 11. So most thinking would be illegal!

There would be very little singing, as there would be very little music we could sing to, and very little to sing about. There would be no holidays, so we would have to work more.

Finally, we would be without FREEDOM of any kind. There would be no freedom of SPEECH, THOUGHT, OR CHOICE.

No freedom for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Fascist and Nazi regimes would pale in comparison to a world run by the Watchtower Society

So what did Jesus mean when He said in John 8:32,36, "You shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall set you free... and when the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed"?

Well, the REAL TRUTH is that Jesus Christ does set us free!(John 14:6) Men and error place us in bondage.

Thank God that everyone in this world is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses. It would be a terrible world of terror and oppression under the most diabolical dictatorship the world has ever seen!
