Code of Ethics of CCNI Members

Standards of Ethics and Ministry Conduct for Members

All members of CCNI agree to the following:

1. While taking account of legal obligations, Members of CCNI hold the interests and welfare of the people with whom they minister to be of prime importance. This includes complete confidentiality of all information disclosed by those receiving ministry, with two exceptions;

A. Professional Members are required by law to disclose information where a breach of law has occurred. Mandatory reporting is a legal requirement for Professional Members, who are obliged to advise their clients in advance of such limitations of confidentiality. Ordained Ministers have the right of discretion in such matters.

B. Where a Member has reason to believe that non-disclosure of relevant information may endanger the person receiving ministry or some other person/s. Client or public safety are reasonable exceptions in all jurisdictions. Extreme wisdom is required in such circumstances and will require justification later.

2. Client's have the right to know how Members minister. Prior to commencing ministry, establish agreement of any rule, time limits, payment (if appropriate), and boundaries.

3. If options are suggested, members ensure clients know they are free to make their own choices and are responsible for subsequent outcomes, the decision-making is theirs..

4. If the client is touched, always ask permission first, even to anoint with oil (James 5:14-16).

5. Members do not engage in sexual harassment, which is defined as deliberate or repeated jokes, comments, gestures, attitudes, eye contact or physical contacts of a sexual nature, or which makes the client feel uncomfortable, tainted or shamed..

6. Members are called to be a visible sign of God's desire to heal and restore people to wholeness.

7. Members must be walking on obedience to God and His Word, with lives morally pure and with good relationships with others. Who you are (character and Christlikeness) is more important than what you do (giftings).

8. Those working with children and young people must not cause them to be offended (Matthew 18:5-6). Members must stand out as distinctly different from a world that so often abuses children, and the highest possible standards must be maintained. Living to please God includes being a positive example to children and their parents.

9. To be consistently fruitful and effective, members need to keep their walk with God fresh and current. Walking in His grace means that while we may not be perfect we keep our lives clean by walking in repentance (1 John 1:9).

10. Members have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and this means maintaining a regular devotional time of reading, meditating and applying the written Word of God in our lives (Colossians 3:1).

11. To maintain that fresh relationship with God requires being open to the Holy Spirit at all times, and not relying on past experiences.

12. Members are recommended to maintain a humble heart, not thinking of ourselves more highly than we should. We are all sinners saved by grace and have no merit in ourselves, except what God has done for and in us (Phillippians 2:5-8).

13. Being teachable is a very important quality. None of us knows everything and should always be seeking to learn, from God and from others. God does use others to teach us. Being teachable includes being eager to develop ministry skills and gifts, never being content to remain where you are but continuing to grow, daily.

14. This ministry is not built on control, but accountability, for the benefit of those being ministered to. As such, members should have servant hearts. Love is a choice we make to act for the highest good of others in our Christian family and beyond, so loving relationships should permeate everything we do. The enemy of our souls knows how to destroy unity, so we must guard ourselves from criticism which puts people down with blame (Hebrews 12:14-15).

15. For the protection of all concerned, where-ever possible Members of CCNI should seek to minister in pairs or teams. It is recommended that women minister to women and men to men, to avoid any hint of improprieties.

16. Recognising their limitations of training and experience, members are strongly recommended to seek advice and direction with designated mentors when they encounter any case or situation which is too difficult for them, and where necessary to be prepared to pass on such cases for the benefit of the person requiring ministry.

17. Members should present opinions of their own and other viewpoints in a fair and honest manner.

18. All allegations or suggestions of misconduct by members should be brought to the notice of a mentor or the Executive as soon as possible, so such matters may be resolved, misunderstandings allayed or appropriate disciplinary action taken, as may be required. Confidentiality must be maintained, or permission sought from those involved to resolve any matter of dispute.

Finance and Service

Many members will facilitate ministry based on their own call from God, confirmed through their submission to their local church leadership, and their compassion for those traumatised and/or hurting, without thought of financial gain..

However, some members are professional counsellors in private practice, while others will be employed by various churches, ministries or even secular organisations. These members will usually charge to a scale of fees based on their position, experience, seniority, etc. All members are permitted to accept appropriate fees or gifts from clients, and if ministering on a regular basis may request a fee for their availability and facilitation of the ministry process. Some members will seek to live by faith in God's ability to provide for their needs, and set amounts based on time will not be appropriate for them. However, members who aren't sure what amount to suggest or charge as fair should seek advice from mentors or the executive members. Clearly this will depend on individual circumstances, and recommendations will be suggested. The Bible is clear that workers are worthy of their hire.

Statement of Faith for CCNI Members

All members of CCNI affirm the following:

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We Believe...

1. In one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This God is the creator and sustainer of all things.

2. God in revealing Himself inspired the Holy Scriptures so they are entirely trustworthy and have supreme authority in all matters of doctrine, faith and conduct.

3. All people were made for fellowship with God but have disobeyed Him, so all people have become sinners, guilty in His sight and alienated from Him.

4. In our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh yet truly human, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin. Even though He remained sinless, He took on Himself the sin of the world and died on the cross of Calvary as our representative and substitute. God showed His love for all people and provided the only way for them to be forgiven from the guilt penalty, set free from the power of sin and reconciled fully to Him through the atoning death, shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

5. In the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, His ascension into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father, in His personal physical return and the judgement of all the world by Him.

6. The Holy Spirit brings people to individually trust Christ, repent of their sins and be baptised in water as Jesus commanded. He lives in them, and develops their new lives in Christ, thus enabling the believer to live a holy life, and to work and witness for Him in the fellowship of the Church which is the Body of Christ.

7. The Holy Spirit equips the Church to carry out God's purposes through the baptism of the believer with the Holy Spirit as evidenced by spiritual fruit and gifts.

8. In the resurrection of the body, the eternal blessedness of God's presence of the righteous, and the eternal punishment and separation from God of the wicked.

History and Structure

Mission Statement

Christian Carers Network provides training, equipping, mentoring and accountability for Christians so they may be effective in personal ministry with those who have experienced trauma, or who lack spiritual freedom in Jesus Christ, based on Isaiah 61:1-8 and Luke 4:18-19.

"Healing the Broken-hearted and setting the Captive free..." (Isaiah 61:1-8) "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19).

History and Structure

CCN grew out of the prayer and personal counselling ministry of Revs. David and Raelene Thompson, of Adelaide, South Australia. CCN Australia is under the legal covering and accountability of Watchman Ministries Inc, registered in South Australia.

CCN International has been established under the same basic Articles of Faith, Standards of Ethics and Ministry Conduct, etc. CCNI is a self-governing but accountable division of Jubilee Ministries Trust Inc., an Educational and Religious charitable organisation registered in New Zealand. Jubilee Ministries also has branches in Queensland Australia, Ontario Canada, and Indiana USA; each distribute books and other resources and run informative seminars and ministry training courses on spiritual deceptions and effective ministry guidelines. All branches are registered charitable/not-for-profit organisations. Local CCN branches have been established attached to these which are affiliated with CCNI.

Both the South Australian and New Zealand branches of CCN choose to work together in unity, while recognising they have to be separate due to each being in a sovereign nation with some variations of law.

Executive members have be appointed by the Board of Jubilee Ministries Trust Inc., and are responsible for the general running of training courses, mentoring of members, setting policy and ministry guidelines, and dealing with any complaints or misconduct of members. Such serious matters will be treated on the basis that each circumstance is different, and repentance for any wrong-doing and then restoration should be sought as a priority. Expulsion from membership and advice of such action to all other CCNI members and appropriate local church leadership of the offending member will occur. This is to ensure there is no possibility of re-offending without accountability.

The Executive shall appoint mentors based on experience and maturity, and these should be consulted by any member should they encounter any difficulty with their prayer ministry client, or a situation which they recognise is beyond their level of experience or expertise. Mentors should also be regarded as a sounding board for situations which require it. All members understand that CCN cannot be held responsible for their actions should a member breach the law or the Code of Ethics and Ministry Conduct.

All income from CCNI Training Courses, resource sales and membership fees will be recorded through Jubilee's financial accounts (which are subject to independent audit), and any expenditure beyond normal running expenses must have prior permission of the Jubilee Board.
